THOSE who plan to purchase overseas tour packages at the Perak chapter of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) fair have been urged to buy travel insurance as well.
Organising chairman Mohamad Hisam Mohamad Yusof said this was to help the public if they faced unforeseen circumstances while holidaying.
He said the insurance, which cost between RM30 and RMSO, was strongly recommended.
"In the event of an accident or a tourist gets stranded because of unavoidable circumstances, the insurance will come in handy.
"It is important that people get their packages from licenced travel agents.
"All booths at the fair are legitimate ones," he told reporters.
The three-day fair from March 16 to 18 would be held at Ipoh Parade and open from 10am to 10pm daily.
Perak Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohd Radzi was expected to launch the event at 3pm on Friday.
Mohamad Hisam said there would be 84 booths by travel companies, Perak Tourism, Malaysia Tourism, Indonesia Tourism Ministry representatives, as well as insurance companies.

"During the last MATTA Fair in September last year, we had estimated about RM40mil in sales, but we achieved nearly RM45mil in sales.
"Customers who spend RM300 will be entitied to a lucky draw form.
"Prizes such as air tickets to Hong Kong, Singapore and several destinations in China would be up for grabs," he added.
Organising committee member David Chong said Istanbul would be one of the highlights of the fair as well as several destinations in China, such as Hainan.
Besides that, he said cruise packages by The Symphony of the Seas based in Barcelona, would also be promoted, as the cruise would be making its maiden voyage in April.
"Among the stops are Italy and France, and the cruise has the capacity to take some 8,000 people on board.
