MATTA Fair: Discounts on Grab rides, airfares and more during three-day promotion at Straits Quay

Thinking of where to go for a holiday? Then come look for travel deals at the MATTA Fair Penang 2017 which will be held at the Straits Quay Convention Centre in Tanjung Tokong from today to Sunday.
Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) chief executive officer Phua Tai Neng (pic) said the fair featured 133 booths by 59 exhibitors, comprising licensed tour operators and other related businesses such as hotels and theme parks.
“MATTA continues to meet the demand of consumers in Penang and the northern region by bringing the best travel deals in town.
“There will also be eight booths offering pilgrimage tours for umrah or haj,” he told a press conference at Straits Quay yesterday.
Phua said the igloo was brought by an exhibitor offering tour packages to Iceland.
Visitors could also take part in the MATTA Fair Buyers’ Contest.
Phua said those who spend RM200 or more would be entitled to join the contest offering more than RM20,000 worth of prizes such as air tickets, hotel vouchers, theme park entry passes and MPay MATTA Debit Mastercard.
The first prize is return flight tickets from Penang to Seoul and 4D/3N stay for two persons while the second prize is return flight tickets from Penang to Hong Kong and 3D/2N stay for two persons.
Phua said MATTA was collaborating with Grab as the official ride hailing partner for the fair.
He said visitors could enjoy RM8 off on Grab services to and from the convention centre by keying in the promo code PGMATTA.
The discount is for a maximum of two rides per account.
He also said AirAsia would be giving a 20% discount on airfares for travel from Oct 24 to April 26 next year, excluding festive period, during the fair.
The Penang and Johor state tourism organisations are among the exhibitors at the event.
Phua expected a turnout of 18,000 visitors to the fair this year.
The fair will be open from 10am to 9pm over the three days. Admission is free.
