Umrah Deals Up For Grabs At Travel Fair In Penang

PILGRIMS who wish to perform the umrah can snap up package deals during the upcoming Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair Penang.

The event will be held from Oct 13 to Oct 15 at Straits Quay Convention Centre in Tanjung Tokong.

MATTA president Datuk Hamzah Rahmat said pilgrims could buy packages for the umrah season in early November.

“There have been many cases of people who fell victims to fake umrah packages.

“The umrah packages offered during our fair are by licensed operators,” he said during a press conference at the convention centre yesterday.

Some 17,000 people are expected to attend the three-day event featuring 133 booths from 48 agencies.

MATTA secretary-general Nigel Wong said visitors would also stand a chance to win attractive prizes during the event.

“We will have the MATTA Fair Buyers’ Contest where visitors who make purchases above RM200 can take part in this contest which offers prizes such as return flight tickets and tour packages,” he said.

Registration for exhibitors starts tomorrow.
