KUALA LUMPUR: Navigating the huge MATTA Fair gets even easier because the venue, Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), has been sectioned according to destinations.
The fair is on until March 19.
Domestic travellers, for instance, can focus their search for the best deals at Merdeka Hall and Hall 4 on the fourth floor. Previously, they would have to go up and down between Hall 4 and Hall 3A to compare prices.
Those looking for Asean and international destinations can start their search at Hall 3.
Travel deals to other international destinations abound in Hall 1 and 2 and the Linkway.
Meanwhile, Muslim travellers planning the Haj should go to Hall 1M.
MATTA president Datuk Hamzah Rahmat said the association expected 100,000 people to visit the three-day fair, and an estimated RM200mil in sales.
“We’re hoping to see more visitors following expansion works at PWTC to accommodate more people,” he said.
The MATTA Fair this time around features 1,300 booths and kiosks. More than 400 travel agents and organisations, as well as 11 state tourist offices will be promoting their products.
Over 50 hotels, cruise organisers and theme parks will also be there.
Visitors to the fair who spend at least RM300 on an international travel package or RM100 on a domestic travel package are entitled to join the Buyers’ Contest.
They stand a chance of winning one of the 73 prizes, including air tickets, hotel stays and entrance tickets to various destinations and attractions around the world.
Among the prizes are round-trip air tickets to destinations such as London, Zagreb, and Ho Chi Minh City. There are also hotel stays in Singapore, Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur.
