SECRETARY Clara Cherubin was delirious when she won the grand prize of a 6D/4N trip for two to Hokkaido, Japan.
The 55-year-old beat 838 other contestants in the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair Buyers Contest which was held from March 30 to April 1.
She jumped joyfully when the emcee announced her name, drawing laughter and cheers from the other contestants.
Her prize includes the flight tickets, sponsored by Apple Vacations and Conventions Sdn Bhd.
“I am very thankful and happy to have won because I joined the contest many times.
“I will definitely go with my husband,” she said at The Wembley — A St Giles Hotel, Penang.
Graphic designer Shabani Ibrahim, 37, walked away with an iPhone X.
“I was surprised to win the iPhone because it was my first time participating in the MATTA Fair contest.
“I will certainly join again and hope to win a holiday,” he said.
MATTA secretary-general Nigel Wong said MATTA Fair Penang will be held twice a year due to its overwhelming success.
“There will be more value for money deals including new and exciting destinations,” he said.
The next MATTA Fair Penang will be bigger, with more exhibitors. It will be from Sept 28 to 30 at the Subterranean Penang International Convention and Exhibition (SPICE) Arena in Relau, Penang.
